Furry Lewis - Back On My Feet Again
Cornbread Records present a reissue of Furry Lewis's Back On My Feet Again, originally released in 1961. Lewis was a Mississippi native who found his first success in Memphis in the 1920s, recording now highly sought-after sides for labels like Vocalion and Victor. Throughout the Depression and WWII, Lewis maintained his day job as a street sweeper for the City of Memphis, a job he kept for over 40 years, even after the folk revival hit and he began performing and recording again. This album is one of his earliest revival efforts and remains one of his strongest recordings to date. Featuring his unique country blues guitar style and soulful voice, this is a forgotten gem from a blues legend that deserves to be named with the greats like Charley Patton, Robert Johnson, Lightnin' Hopkins, and John Lee Hooker. 180 gram vinyl.
