Narrow Adventure - 1981-1983
Great new album of unearthed recordings from our friends at Spacecase Records! The Wednesday Week meets the Urinals idea works! Super sparse pop that seems way ahead of its time! The early 80s in LA? This would be more at home in NZ's stable of stripped down pop on Flying Nun. I dig it! Does it sound like the early Bangles with a Urinal drumming? Maybe! And that's good!
Spacecase says:
Narrow Adventure was Kristi and Kelly Callan (Wednesday Week) and Kjehl Johnansen’s (Urinals, 100 Flowers, Trotsky Icepick) group from 1981-1983. Unreleased on vinyl until now, their self-titled LP captures their catalog recorded over various sessions by the Last’s Vitus Matare. This is a must have for fans of Wednesday Week, as a few of the Narrow Adventure tracks ended up on Wednesday Week’s debut EP, Betsy’s House (1983). Limited to 500 copies, Narrow Adventure includes an insert with old show bills, photos and Kelly’s lyrics.
