Mammal - Lake & Sand Lp [Ormolycka]
"Lake & Sand" has the same whatever it is you like about Jandek or Skip Spence. Mammal knows how to craft a record that allows the instrumentation to breathe, as opposed to drowning out the craftsmanship with god forsaken verbosity. That being said, you could toss this under folk/freak folk/psych folk like rubbish in the bin, but tracks like "Hydrocodone" could just as easily be licensed by T-Bone Burnett for some Texas Drama Mini Series, what with it's dusty, southern grit. It's a meditative and dark piece that feels a slight timeless. Guess thats the Jandek in it.
