Datblygu - Pyst
Datblygu reissues are here! On black and colored vinyl courtesy of Italy's Hate Records.
HATE RECORDS - "DATBLYGU (Welsh pronunciation: [datˈbləɡi] meaning "development", "progress", “evolution”) were formed in 1982 in Aberteifi by David R. Edwards and T. Wyn Davies, with Pat Morgan joining in 1984. They are regarded as a catalyst of the new wave of Welsh-language music in the early '80s. Edwards' lyrics are in the Welsh language, filled with dark humour and often reflecting his "extreme disillusionment" with life in Wales in the early 1980s era under Margaret Thatcher. Differently to other post punk contemporary bands, they have a strong own sound and strong personality. One of the greatest well-kept- secrets of the DIY ‘80s (post) punk sound (like The Fall, The Swell Maps..), they’re now highly regarded from new generation of bands (Welsh’s modern icons like Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and Super Furry Animals talk about Datblygu as their most important influence...!) and very very similar in their sound to some ‘90s bands inspired by them(i.e.: the Country Teasers!). Always at the edge of the market, but much loved from the grandfather of UK radio sound John Peel, who host them many times for recording at his BBC sessions. They’re recently also celebrated in the great documentary “This film should not exist” (about the Country Teasers story and their first tour with the Oblivians..) Here are limited reissues of their first two albums, never reissued on vinyl and really hard to find (and/or expensive!) in their original versions (out in just 500 copies each) from 1988 and 1990. Including the very rare original inserts issued at the time in early copies only! Limited to just 350 copies each."
