Blind Willie McTell - Trying To Get Home LP [Sutro Park]
Back in print! This classic collection originally released in 1969 is available once more thanks to the folks at Sutro Park.
Sutro Park - "Legend of the 12-string guitar, known for his fluid Piedmont fingerstyle and clear singing voice. Blind Willie McTell never received wide acclaim during his lifetime, getting by mostly as a street performer in Atlanta. He was recorded for the Library of Congress by John Lomax (papa of Alan) in 1940 but never had commercial success. These 1949 recordings were made for Regal and re-released on Biograph in the 1970s, showcasing the urgency and clarity of his guitar playing. McTell was long gone by the time his name started circulating in the blues and folk revival scene, having succumbed to liver disease and diabetes in 1959. These tracks helped cement his legacy as one of the greatest guitarists of his time."
