Super heavy and relentless cosmic grind out of Memphis! Recommended!

The history of Metal music in Memphis is slim. Early pioneers like Image, Mystress, and Medieval Steel are names only hard rock record nerds recognize. They're also the only group to shell out the bucks for those obscure pieces of history. Epoch of Unlight came about in the early 90's and rose to some international acclaim, but still so very few locals know their name. Hardcore/punk loosely dominated the underground scene thanks to His Hero is Gone, Deathreat, and a slew of other crusties, but as the 2000's saw a huge rise in death, grind, and a plethora of other metal variants, so did the Memphis scene. Communities since then have come and gone, and what we're left with is Knoll, who sit atop a very small metal/hardcore scene that currently exists. I say atop, as the cream always rises. This spritely group of young men dedicated the time and money to record with Andy Nelson at Bricktop in Chicago and have the record mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City...both names are legendary in the hardcore/metal world. So we know the record sounds good...but how are the songs? Well...they're killer. There's no bullshit with this assault. Blackened Grind could be used to describe the sound...but why try? Something of this caliber needn't the confines of language. Expect (almost exclusively) blast beats, dual vocals, and guitars that don't turn your brow line into a Neanderthal's. That's right, mosey along riff lords and mosh pit vets...no chugga chugga bozo flatbill cargo short nonsense here. This is refreshing stuff, Knoll. Straight assault, in a new Memphis style. We thank you.
